New bandori anime out!!!! I can't lie I knew next to nothing about Mugendai Mewtype before this anime came out so learning more about these characters i've only seen floating around here and there is really coolI just watched the first 3 episodes of yume mita so I just wanted to get my thoughts out there
My expectations were high after the absolute banger that was ave mujica (that had me in a 6-month chokehold) and I was certainly not disappointed. The show definitely has its own feel, seperate from the avemygo duo and og bandori (although it has a lot of the goofy expressions lmao).
I feel like bushi is getting a lot more comfortable and experimental with the 3d animation. It feels a lot less stiff than before, and the characters feel less "3d"? I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but it felt more natural to me.
I really like how the story is really leaning in to the 'online' focus in a way that feels relevant. Obv Mewtype meets online using VR, but the show's main struggles (at least so far) look to be ones commonly seen online, like Arale getting flamed because of a compilation of clips uploaded to Youtube to ruin her reputation, and Nonoka and the misinterpreted live clip. Also the struggle of someone blowing you off using chatgpt 🥀 The fandom culture also feels realistic and the captcha and chatgpt jokes were funny.
The characters' realistic struggles are definitely part of the reason they're so relatable as well. I'm lowk growing attached to them (EXCEPT VIOLA.)
The main antagonist atp is def looking to be Viola. Nyamu looks like a saint compared to her I'm not even kidding. The way she acts and manipulates Ritsu feels just like someone might actually act, which makes her more despicable. I don't want to judge her too harshly until I can see more of the full story but oh boy Viola you're walking on thin ice. She's definitely an interesting character so far though, I could see her being someone's favorite just because she's so intriguing.
Overall I love the show and am super excited to see what happens next!! I really want to see what happened in the old band, it kinda reminds me of crychic in a way idk
